FIVE SIMPLE STEPS TO GET COLLEGE READY

As an Ofsted Outstanding College, we pride ourselves on the quality of our education and learning but also the quality of our support, which is second to none.

The support starts before your first day, as we help you Get College Ready with five simple steps.

If you are a Year 11 student joining us in September, take some time over the summer to work through our Five-Step Checklist and prepare for College life.

1

GET ON BOARD

All students wishing to travel by bus must be in possession of a bus pass BEFORE starting College in September.

Download our handy Journey Guide and find full instructions to help you Choose, Apply and Buy your bus pass on our transport page; including which bus operator to choose, bursaries and subsidised travel options.

ENTER THE PORTAL

Don’t worry, you won’t be transported to an alternative dimension!

The College Portal is where all new and returning students can pay for things like trips and bus passes but also where you submit your contact details, exam results and upload your student photo.

From September 2021, all students at Truro and Penwith College are required to wear a lanyard with their student ID card attached at all times. Your ID card can be used to buy things at College, scan your attendance at lectures and lots more.

We need your photograph to put on your student ID card so please upload this before you start in September. This can be easily done by making sure you log into the College Portal and follow the instructions in the left hand panel.

3

GET TO KNOW YOUR COLLEGE

We know that your years at College are often the best of your life.

We also understand that for some, the first few days at College can be daunting. Don’t worry, it will probably take a few days for you to feel orientated and it’s important to remember that for the first few days, everyone around you is in exactly the same boat.

To help you feel more at home when you arrive, we have created a suite of online tools to keep you connected.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK

The Digital Campus is our unique, online learning platform to help you transition your Year 11 knowledge into your post-16 education journey.

Once you log in and access the Digital Campus you can complete pieces of work set by subject tutors, read subject specific papers and research the topics you’ll need to know when you start here. Joining the Digital Campus isn’t obligatory, but it may just give you that head start before your studies in September.

What A RESULT!

GCSE results day can be stressful - but please don't worry.

Whatever your results, we are here to help you start your exciting journey with us at Truro and Penwith College. We’ve created a short video guide for all GCSE students on August 12 and beyond. This includes how to submit your results online on the day, advice if your results aren’t what you were expecting and more.
